Silver Assay Determinations

Silver assay levels will be determined on a processor-by-processor basis.  Assay samples will be collected from the fixer discharge at the end of the existing recovery equipment and/or processor.

Service Locations

We cover the states of NC, SC, GA, TN(eastern), KY, VA, WV, PA and MD, with three service locations in:

Equipment Installation:

Shaw Recovery Services (SRS) will perform an equipment survey on a processor-by-processor basis. Projected silver yields will be determined from the fixer silver content. SRS will recommend, install, and maintain the recovery equipment needed to pre-treat the spent fixer currently being discharged.  SRS uses electrolytic flow-through/batching silver recovery units as a primary recovery source.  Cartridges will be used as a primary and secondary recovery source.  Silver assays will be generated after equipment is installed to determine new silver discharge levels. Any adjustments will be made to achieve satisfactory discharge levels.

Equipment Service:

Schedule harvesting of the silver at the customer’s convenience.

Make any necessary adjustments to provide maximum silver recovery.

Perform scheduled maintenance on all electrolytic units.

Provide any repairs and labor cost on equipment owned by SRS.

Issue a signed receipt for all generated silver flake.

Change recovery cartridges, as needed, based on qualitative silver test.

Periodically inspect all recovery equipment to help assure compliance with federal, state, and local codes.  SRS will assume no liability for failure to meet compliance for federal, state, and local silver discharge levels.

Obsolete X-Ray and Litho Film:

SRS will provide all drums and material handling equipment needed for obsolete x-ray, litho, and industrial film removal at no charge.  A signed receipt will be issued for all film. See an example.

Silver Flake:

Silver flake will be harvested on a time schedule based on silver recovery load. The harvesting will be done in the presence of a customer representative. A signed receipt will be issued for all silver flake.

Silver Recovery Cartridges:

Silver recovery cartridges will be installed on low volume processors where electrolytic recovery systems are not applicable.  Cartridges will be recommended as tailing units and installed behind primary electrolytic recovery systems.  The customer will be charged based on silver recovery equipment being recommended.  NOTE:  Tailing units are necessary to meet federal, state, and local silver discharge level compliance.

Settlement Factors:

Obsolete X-Ray, Litho, and Industrial Film – The customer will be paid a % of the silver market price for all obsolete film.  Minimum weight for reimbursement is 280 lbs. (one full barrel) of obsolete film picked up at one time.  A settlement check will be mailed to the customer approximately 60 days after date of pick-up.

Electrolytic Flake – Pricing of electrolytic flake will be based on the NY COMEX silver market price the date film is picked up. SRS will provide referenced service and equipment, and will pay the customer a % of the dollar value on all silver flake recovered.  If SRS has to purchase the electrolytic units there will be a pro-rated schedule set up.  During the 1st year, 90% of the silver flake proceeds will go to SRS and 10% to the customer.  For the 2nd year, 70% will go to SRS and 30% to the customer.  For the 3rd and subsequent years, 50% will go to SRS and 50% will go to the customer.  SRS will maintain the electrolytic units and charge the customer for parts only.  Labor and travel will be at no charge.  A settlement check will be mailed to the customer approximately 60 days after date of pick-up.

Cartridges – There will be no settlement on used cartridges as the processing and refining fees charged to SRS by the refiner exceed the value of the silver content in the recovery cartridges.

Silver Assay – After achieving satisfactory silver discharge levels, additional assays can be performed on a periodic basis (monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually).  A fixer sample will be collected and sent to a certified lab for analysis.  Attached to the results will be the documentation for audit purposes. There is a small charge for this service.

Any price increase by SRS will be submitted in writing 30 days prior to the change. Cancellation can be from either party by giving a thirty (30) day written notice. Contract period is two years (24 months) from date of customer signature. The daily NY COMEX silver price is regulated by the NYSE/Precious Metals of which SRS has no control.

A Certificate of Destruction is available, upon request.
